Program Support Volunteer
Make a Difference for Students in Need!
InvestED provides funding that supports needy students in secondary schools throughout Washington state. We partner with more than 650 schools to assist more than 16,500 students with small amounts of immediate, item-specific, need-based funding each year – items such as shoes, coats, glasses, sports equipment, and academic fees. We have been doing this important work for 50 years.
We are looking for a volunteer with excellent customer service skills and an interest in helping students in need. Specifically, this is a customer service position that involves working with school contacts, other volunteers and staff members. Important qualities include a positive attitude, flexibility and problem solving skills. Customer problems are primarily training questions or website errors, so the ability to learn new skills and help others learn them is important.
Applicants must be familiar with Word, Excel, and internet browsing for research. You should be comfortable talking with new people on the phone and possess strong organizational and follow through skills. Experience with computers, tenacity, patience, and problem solving skills and especially useful. Training is provided on our computer systems, phone and the specific internet web site that all of our school users utilize. When things are slow, our volunteers work on various projects or research.
This position requires a time commitment of at least six months (longer is preferable) with one day a week, two half days, or similar time in the office. Our hours are mid-week (T, W, Th 10am to 4pm) from an office in the South Lake Union area.
Our office team is friendly and appreciative of the time and talent our volunteers contribute to our mission. We want your volunteer time to have a positive impact on your life and on thousands of students in need. Benefits of volunteering at InvestED include helping needy students stay engaged in school, working with school contacts to improve our service to students, gaining familiarity with Salesforce and other desktop software, and free parking in the South Lake Union area.

Terms are three years. Interested candidates should contact the Executive Director by email at JDavis@InvestED.org.
